tutorial in dormers?

One of the few things in the game that I still can't do is use dormers, they just flat out confuse me. I'm thinking that other people must have problems with them, and it's not just my stupidity So I was wondering if the magazine could do a tutorial on them?

The only thing I have figured out with them is just keep trying till you get it right - and mark a smaller area then you need covered - not really enough for a tutorial - but I will look into it.
